Customer Comments: 31x43 1/4 would like doors to have as slim clean lines as possible. 2 doors sliding out to each side. As slim profile as possible. I would like to see what the sliding mesh screens look like.
Our Comments: Here are some options of doors with minimal looks and clean lines. Doors that are shown as bifold can also be made as cabinet doors. Some can be made with ceramic glass for burning fires with the doors closed, but based on one of the pictures you are showing, it appears the fires you are building would likely be too hot to close the doors, so I recommend opening the doors until the fire starts to die out.
Tempered vs Ceramic Glass: Tempered glass can handle sustained temperatures around 450F without shattering and should be at least 8" from the flames. This is sufficient for closing the doors as the fire starts to die out to keep the heat in the home. Ceramic glass can handle sustained temperatures around 1450F with direct flame contact. If you want the ability to burn continuous fires with the doors closed, you need ceramic glass. You can close the tempered glass doors when the fire starts to die out to keep the warm air in during the night.

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle relatively high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is not as heavy duty and rugged as steel or wrought iron, but it is the most affordable.

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass and are the most minimal doors avilable. There is no frame on the sides, just an angle iron on the top and bottom with hardware to hold the glass. The door features 3/16" thick tempered glass for a clean elegant modern look. Because the doors fit inside the fireplace, they do not open flat to the tile, they will open to about 120 degrees.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.

Ceramic glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 1450F and be in direct contact with the flames. If you wish to burn fires with the doors closed, I highly recommend upgrading to ceramic glass. Ceramic glass is $800-$2000 more than tempered glass depending on the manufacturer.
Not all doors are available with all of these glass options.
