Treatments for Rugged Stone Arched Fireplace - Project #21368

Customer Comments: We are removing the wood stove and installing gas logs. We know this is an unorthodox opening and not sure how to treat it. Any options to be discussed. So the dimensions on this opening are: 46”w x 36”h and you can see it’s somewhat of a beehive arch.

Our Comments: I highly recommend the Lava Series gas logs from Grand Canyon for this application. I am showing these with several different treatments including free standing screens, mesh doors and glass doors. I also included detailed instructions for creating a template.

Gas Log Warning: To prevent the burner and pilot mechanism from overheating causing safety issues, gas logs must be burned with glass doors open even though they may be shown with the doors closed in the mockups.

Shown Above: Grand Canyon 30 Inch Lava Gas Logs with GloFire Technology. These are the only logs on the market with burners cast inside the logs so flames come directly out of the logs themselves. They are by far the most realistic gas logs on the market, but also one of the most expensive.

Template Instructions:

1. Tape a piece of heavy plastic sheeting to the fireplace.
2. Make sure the bottom edge is perfectly straight and even with the hearth.
3. Make sure it is taped tightly enough to remove any wrinkles.
4. Trace the shape of the stones and mortar around the opening with a fine tip marker.
5. If you make a mistake, make a note and point to the correct part of the line that is to be used.
6. Mark the template as shown with: Fireplace Treatments, Customer: (Your Name), PO# (To Be Provided), Outside Looking In.
7. Email me a picture of the template and leave it in place so I can see how it was made and approve it.
8. Once I approve it, you can take it down, cut off the tape and mail it to the address that I will provide.
