Customer Comments: Looking for glass doors with a vent that can be burned with the doors closed. Doors must cover damaged stone on top and sides.
Our Comments: Here is a variety of doors that can be made to fit your fireplace. Doors by Design Specialties can be burned with the doors and vent open or closed at any time. Doors from Hearth Creations require pyro ceramic glass to be burned closed, otherwise they must be burned with the doors open except when starting a fire or when the fire is dying out.
Fireplace Opening: 34" W x 27 1/2" H x 30 1/2" H (to cover damage)
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
These doors are made from 3/16" thick laser cut steel with 1/4" tempered safety glass. They are heavy duty and rugged and can be burned with the doors and bottom vent open or closed when the fire is burning, assuming you build a reasonable fire. View Finish Options Here!
These doors are made from 3/16" thick laser cut steel or wrought iron. If made with pyro ceramic glass, you can burn them with the doors and vent open or closed. If ordered with 1/4" tempered safety glass, you must burn them with the doors open, but you can close the doors and vent when the fire is dying out. View Finish Options Here!
Stone manufacturing is the extreme high end when it comes to fireplace doors. This particular door is hand crafted from solid brass, so the antique brass finish is authentic. Here is a link to the many Trims and Finishes you can choose from.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
