Customer Comments: Would like to get a glass fireplace. 8 in w3 651/2 w2 221/2 h3 an h2 it's pretty square now don't forget I'm gonna have to give you more measurements because I'm gonna add tile on top of the brown stones so that 22 1/2 is not the true measurement yet, no, I have the left side of the fireplace that has an opening and its measurements is 32 inches wide and 221/2 high but one thing at the 12 inch to the 15 inch is my gas pipe coming out on the other side of the glass I would like to have the aluminum like in the photo you sent me, and if you could give me an approximate cost, it would be greatly appreciated so I know what I'm working with and I can give you the final measurement when I put that quarter inch tile in thank you very much
Our Comments: Most of my Corner Fireplace Doors can be made to fit your 3 sided fireplace. Below are examples showing popular doors made from aluminum or steel. The aluminum doors cannot be cutout to accomodate the gas line, so you would need to rerout it. Steel doors are laser cut, so they can be made with a notch for the gas line. Please look at Project #20046 as a good example of a fireplace that needed similar doors.
Tempered vs Ceramic Glass: Tempered glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 450F without breaking from heat and should be at least 8” from the flames. Ceramic glass can handle temperatures up to about 1450F and can have direct contact with the flames. If you wish to burn fires with the doors closed, I highly recommend upgrading to ceramic glass.
Fireplace Opening: 32" W (Left) x 65 1/2" W (Center) x 8" W (Right) x 22 1/2" H
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
Here is an example of a steel corner fireplace door with a cutout for the gas line on the left side.
Refer to the diagram below:
W1: Left Width: 32"
W2: Center Width: 65 1/2"
W3: Right Width: 8"
H1: Left Side Height: 22 1/2"
H2: Left Corner Height: 22 1/2"
H3: Right Corner Height: 22 1/2"
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
